Mr. Turan And Mr. Büyüksağnak Represented The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality At The Metropolis General Assembly

Ambassador (R.) Mr. Mustafa Osman Turan, Foreign Relations Advisor to the Mayor of Istanbul and  Mr.Barbaros Büyüksağnak, Head of Foreign Relations Department, represented the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality at the 15th Metropolis General Assembly, in Tangier, Morocco, on 26 June 2026.

During the General Assembly, Metropolis’ activities and financial status for the 2024–2026 period were discussed, elections were held for membership of the Board of Directors for the 2027–2029 term, and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality was re-elected to the Board of Directors and as Special Envoy for Megacities.

Mr. Turan and Mr. Büyüksağnak congratulated Ms. Fatiha El Moudni, Mayor of Rabat, on her election as President of Metropolis for the 2027–2029 term.

Within the scope of the meetings, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality shared its assessments under the themes “Cities as Spaces of Opportunities,” “Care Services Sustain Cities,” “Sustainable Mobility Within the City,” and “Cities Producing Their Own Energy.”
