Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, Head of the Foreign Relations Department, Hosted ICLEI Representatives

Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, hosted Ms. Ariel Dekovic, Global Communications Director of ICLEI, and Ms. Gökşen Şahin, ICLEI Europe Policy and Advocacy Manager, on Monday, 4 May 2026.

During the meeting, current and future areas of co-operation between our Municipality and ICLEI, of which we are a member, were discussed. Discussions were also exchanged on potential co-operation opportunities within the framework of the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in Antalya between 9 and 20 November 2026.

The meeting concluded with the exchange of goodwill and a mutual understanding to maintain contact in the period ahead.
