A delegation led by Mr. Huang Zhigang, Chairman of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress, visited the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipal Assembly.

The meeting, chaired by Ms. Nazlı Akyüz, Chair of the EU and Foreign Relations Commission at IMM Assembly, and Ms. Melendiz Dalyan İzgi, Chair of the Legal Affairs Commission at IMM Assembly, was attended by IMM Assembly members serving on the aforementioned commissions, as well as Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, Head of the Foreign Relations Department. During the meeting, the friendly relations between Türkiye and the People’s Republic of China, as well as the further development of the existing cooperation between Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Chinese local governments, were discussed. The parties particularly emphasized the importance of enhancing communication and the sharing of experience between local councils.

The meeting also highlighted the longstanding sister-city and cooperation ties between Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Chinese cities. Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the existing cooperation and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening contacts between local governments and exploring new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
