Experience Sharing Event\u201d, organized under the coordination of the Foreign Relations Department of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and hosted by Kartal Municipality, was held on 12 June 2026 at Kartal Makina Hangar.<\/p>\n<p>At the event, which attracted strong interest from district municipalities, universities, and IMM departments, funding and cooperation opportunities within the Horizon Europe programme\u2014the European Union\u2019s research and innovation programme\u2014were discussed. The event was attended by Kartal Deputy Mayor Hayri Do\u011fruyol, Head of the Foreign Relations Department Barbaros B\u00fcy\u00fcksa\u011fnak, Head of the Social Services Department Nazl\u0131 Enip Dip\u015far, as well as representatives from district municipalities, universities, and various \u0130BB departments.<\/p>\n<p>The opening speeches of the event were delivered by Prof. Dr. Tanay S\u0131dk\u0131 Uyar, Faculty Member of Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Gedik University, Head of the Foreign Relations Department Barbaros B\u00fcy\u00fcksa\u011fnak, and Deputy Mayor of Kartal Hayri Do\u011fruyol. In the opening remarks, the importance of European Union funds in enhancing the capacity of local governments and universities, implementing innovative solutions, and strengthening international cooperation was emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Within the programme, T\u00dcB\u0130TAK Horizon Europe Cluster 5 National Contact Point Arzu \u0130pek Y\u0131lmaz \u00dc\u00e7\u00fcnc\u00fc delivered a presentation titled \u201cIntroduction to the Horizon Europe Programme and 2026\u20132027 Calls\u201d, while T\u00dcB\u0130TAK Legal and Financial Issues National Contact Point H\u00fcseyin Arif Say\u0131l\u0131 provided comprehensive information on the legal and financial aspects of the programme.<\/p>\n<p>In the second part of the event, the \u201cSuccess Stories in the Horizon Europe Programme\u201d session featured experiences from different institutions. In this session, Berfin S\u00f6nmez representing the Smart City Directorate of IMM presented the DECARBOMILE Project; Ay\u015fe Gencer representing the Strategy Development Directorate of Maltepe Municipality presented the BUDGET IT Project; and Abdurrahman T\u00fcrk representing the Research, Development and Technology Transfer Office of Sabanc\u0131 University presented the ARISE Project. The presentations provided information on project development processes, international partnership structures, and the outcomes achieved within the projects.<\/p>\n<p>Through this information and experience-sharing-focused event, participants had the opportunity to learn about current Horizon Europe calls and closely examine successful project examples.
