Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, the Head of Foreign Relations Department of IMM Attended the Woven Legacies: Celebrating India’s Textile Heritage Exhibition

The exhibition titled “Woven Legacies: Celebrating India’s Textile Heritage”, organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of India in Istanbul and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, was held at Metrohan between 27–29 November 2025. Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, the Head of Foreign Relations Department of IMM, and Ms. Hülya Şimşek, Member of the IMM Assembly’s EU and Foreign Relations Commission attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition. Speaking after Consul General of India in Istanbul Mr. Mijito Vinito and Ambassador of India to Türkiye H.E. Muktesh Pardeshi, Mr. Büyüksağnak underlined the Municipality’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with partner countries within the framework of its emphasis on cultural diplomacy. The exhibition, which aimed to highlight the cultural and human ties between India and Türkiye through textile heritage, featured a selection of India’s traditional and contemporary garments, including pieces from the historic Hyderabad Nizam Collection. As part of the programme, a seminar on textile heritage and design was also held on 28 November, bringing together experts and speakers from various countries.
