Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak Meets with the Mayor of Sarajevo

Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, the Head of Foreign Relations Department of IMM and the Permanent Secretary of the B40 Balkan Cities Network, paid a visit to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, between 14–16 August 2025 on the occasion of the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival.

During the visit, Mr. Büyüksağnak held a warm and cordial meeting with Mr. Samir Avdić, the newly elected Mayor of Sarajevo who took the office on 16 July 2025 and will lead the B40 Presidency in 2027, and Mr. Alen Girt, Chairman of the Sarajevo City Council. The discussions focused on the sister city relations between Istanbul and Sarajevo, future cooperation within the framework of the B40 Balkan Cities Network, and initiatives in the field of cultural diplomacy.

Discussions also focused on Sarajevo’s upcoming term as B40 Presidency in 2027, with particular emphasis on preparatory processes and prospective collaborative projects to be undertaken in this context.
