GRANT PROGRAM: KAVŞAK – Türkiye Sustainable Urban Transportation Network
OBJECTIVE: The project aims to provide a participatory method to make women’s access to public transportation safe, secure, and comfortable. Problem identification and suggestions will be developed through a participatory process in order to make the route of a selected street and a public transportation station (bus stop, metro, etc.) connected to the street safe in an area that predominantly exhibits mixed housing (commerce, housing, education, etc.) within the borders of Maltepe Municipality. With the Design Marathon, the suggestions will become applicable to the space, and the project will be implemented together with neighborhood residents through the “Your Street” activity. The target audience of the project includes women who use public transportation and face problems, as well as citizens from other vulnerable groups (children, individuals with disabilities, elderly individuals, etc.).
