Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Hosts Delegation from Ho Chi Minh City

On September 6, 2024, a meeting was held between Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The delegation from Ho Chi Minh City led by Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Bui Xuan Cuong, met with IMM officials, including Deputy Secretary General Zeynep Neyza Akçabay, Foreign Relations Advisor to the Mayor & Ambassador (R) Mustafa Osman Turan, IMM Head of Foreign Relations and B40 Permanent Secretary Barbaros Büyüksağnak, and IMM Head of Environmental Protection and Development Prof. Dr. Ayşen Erdinçler, among other IMM representatives.

The meeting focused on potential cooperation between the two cities in areas such in areas such as tourism, sustainable urban policies, transportation, smart city initiatives, and the preservation of cultural heritage, as well as the importance of sharing experiences and information. The Ho Chi Minh City delegation expressed that Istanbul’s environmentally friendly projects and sustainability experiences could serve as a valuable reference for Ho Chi Minh City, and noted their admiration for Istanbul’s progress in modernization.

The meeting concluded with mutual commitments to strengthen cooperation between the two cities and a gift exchange ceremony.
