IMM and UNITAR Delegation Hold Meeting to Enhance Collaboration

On March 13, the IMM delegation led by Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, Head of the Foreign Relations Department at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, hosted a delegation led by Mr. Alexander A. Mejia, Director of the Division for People and Social Inclusion at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), along with representatives from the CIFAL Global Network at Saraçhane.

During the meeting, discussions focused on key areas such as sustainable water management, climate change mitigation, city diplomacy initiatives, and social service enhancement. The UNITAR delegation presented proposals to implement the “Green Helmets” initiative, aimed at actively engaging youth in environmental projects, in Istanbul. They also suggested establishing a Water Innovation Lab and translating educational programs to reach broader audiences.

Both parties highlighted the strong potential for collaboration between IMM and UNITAR, agreeing to continue discussions on joint projects and to meet again in the near future.
