Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mayor of Istanbul, went to Rome, the capital of Italy, for the ‘2027 European Games Signing Ceremony’. Speaking at the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the European Olympic Committees, and the Turkish National Olympic Committee, İmamoğlu made appeals to athletes, federations, and sports enthusiasts in Europe. “My first call is to all athletes in Europe,” said İmamoğlu. “Come and showcase your talents in front of Europe’s most colorful and enthusiastic audiences. Come and be role models for new generations with your talents, capacities, and personalities. My second call is to all Olympic sports federations in Europe: As Istanbul, we are open to all kinds of cooperation. Istanbul is not only bidding for the Olympics and Paralympic Games but also for all the major events you will organize from now on. Let’s write many inspiring stories together and achieve them together. My third call is to all sports enthusiasts in Europe and the world: When you come to Istanbul, you will not only watch sports but also have the opportunity to experience the best days of your life in the most exciting city in the world. Let’s meet in Istanbul in 2027, where the most colorful cultures of Europe and the world blend.
