The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) EU Relations Directorate visited Istinye University. The meeting brought together Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Bestami Özkaya, Dr. Ülkü Kölemen from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, TTO Director Ömer Ertuğrul, Strategic R&D and Resource Development Director Dr. Muaz Mücahit Yıldırım, and the university’s project team and Deputy Director of the EU Relations Directorate Akın Özkardaş, along with project coordinators Murat Eryılmaz and Buket Yoloğlu.

The meeting focused on potential collaborations between Istinye University and IMM in EU projects, particularly under the Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ programs. It was noted that Istinye University is currently managing over 30 internationally funded projects, with half of them under Horizon Europe.

Potential project topics for cooperation between IMM and Istinye University were discussed. Both IMM and Istinye University pointed out that projects could be developed across many fields, with particular emphasis on health, environment, smart cities, and youth. It was stated that collaboration on innovative projects in Istanbul would enhance both institutions’ access to international grants and funding.
