Beijing Municipal People’s Congress Delegates Visited the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council

On October 18, 2024, a formal meeting was held between the delegation led by Ms. QI Jing, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress (SCBMP), and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). Nuri Aslan, First Deputy Chairman of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipal Assembly, Nazlı Akyüz, Chairperson of the EU and Foreign Relations Commission, Hülya Sarı, Member of the EU and Foreign Relations Commission, and Barbaros Büyüksağnak, Head of the Foreign Relations Department represented IMM.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two cities and exploring future joint projects. Particularly, global urban development, trade, and cultural collaboration were highlighted, showcasing both sides’ commitment to deepening mutual understanding and friendship through annual meetings.

As part of their visit, the SCBMP delegation also toured the Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, and Dolmabahce Palace, and held meetings at the Istanbul Free Trade Zone for Industry and Commerce. They also met with Mehmet Çakılcıoğlu, Chairman of the IMM Business Platform and Advisor to the Mayor.
