Balkan Youth Gathered in Tirana for the B40 Balkan Cities Youth Summit

The third meeting of the Youth Summit, organized annually within the B40 Balkan Cities Network, took place in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
86 Youth Representatives from 24 cities including Istanbul came together between 11-13 June. The Summit started on 11 June with the speeches by the Minister of State for Youth and Children, Mr. Bora Muzhaqi and Mayor of Tirana, Mr. Erion Veliaj and the Opening Ceremony.
During the panel discussions held on 12 June, ‘Promoting Sustainable Transport among Youth,’ ‘Jobs of the Future: Preparing for the Digital Economy,’ “Empowering Young Creatives for Economic Growth,” “Empowering Youth in Decision Making Processes” were discussed. In the panels, the importance of creating green areas by freeing city centers from car parks was emphasized. It was stated that technology should make public transport more accessible and young people should be encouraged to participate in sustainability initiatives. The changes that artificial intelligence will bring to the business world and the importance of digital skills were discussed. It was emphasized that young people need to develop new skills in order to build their future in the digital economy. In addition, the contribution of regional cooperation to economic growth was discussed.
On 13 June, the Youth Representatives, accompanied by trainers, created a graffiti in memory of the 2024 Tirana B40 Balkan Cities Network Youth Summit.
