Kuşadası Municipality, which has previous experience in implementing numerous technical and social themed European Union projects, established the International Relations and EU Center on November 14, 2019, a first in Turkey. Christian Berger, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, Bülent Özcan, Deputy Director General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs and representatives from Kuşadası’s sister cities attended the opening ceremony, which was also attended by IMM European Union Relations Director Hüseyin Sert.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Mayor of Kuşadası Ömer Günel emphasized that Kuşadası Municipality International Relations and EU Center will fulfill a very important function for Kuşadası, one of the most important tourism destinations in Turkey. Günel also underlined that the International Relations and EU Center is the first international relations and EU center in Turkey that will operate in a separate building independent from the municipality building.
