OBJECTIVE: With the awareness of its value in the memory of the city and its citizens, IMM Heritage transformed the long-abandoned Çubuklu Silos into a cultural, artistic, and social hub in 2024. The restoration, carried out in line with universal conservation principles, set an exemplary model for adaptive reuse on a global scale. The silos have been re-functioned with a contemporary interpretation to meet the city’s current needs, becoming a new center of culture, art, and life along the Bosphorus.
SCOPE:
- Transformation of a 20,000 m² heritage area into a multifunctional cultural and public space
- Redevelopment of the coastline as a square, integrated with the silo structures, providing space for events and public gatherings
- Establishment of diverse facilities, including:
- Digital Arts Museum
- Nature and Science Museum
- Library
- Workshop spaces
- Stage and Event Area
- Restaurant and Café
- Children and Art Center
- Adaptive reuse of the silo architecture, whose unique form offers immersive interior experiences, with the upper-level silos repurposed as the Digital Arts Museum
- Hosting of the exhibition “Reconstructing Consciousness: What is Real?”, curated by Ars Electronica and produced by Piksel.Creative Solutions
